Robert Hass | A Reading
Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM (CDT)
In this Open House event, former Poet Laureate Robert Hass reads from his work. A Q&A session will follow the reading.
Robert Hass is one of contemporary poetry’s most celebrated and widely-read voices. In addition to his success as a poet, Hass is also recognized as a leading critic and translator, notably of the Polish poet Czeslaw Milosz and Japanese haiku masters Basho, Buson and Issa. Critics celebrate Hass’s own poetry for its clarity of expression, its conciseness, and its imagery, often drawn from everyday life. From 1995 to 1997, Hass took up the mantle of the nation’s poet, serving as U.S. Poet Laureate and poetry consultant to the Library of Congress.
